The congress will take place at the University of Vienna, A-1010 Vienna, Dr. Karl Lueger Ring 1, which was founded in 1365 and is the oldest university in the German-speaking world as well as one of the largest in Central Europe. At present, about 74,000 students are enrolled in close to 180 courses. The University of Vienna is also the largest teaching and research institution in Austria.
Vienna is one of the most important conference places in Europe.
Vienna’s geographical situation makes it an ideal meeting place between the East and the West. It has outstanding international organizations such as the IAEO, IIASA and of course the United Nations.
Not only is Vienna the capital of Austria, but also the largest town in the country and offers all the facilities of a major city. Yet you will find places where Vienna has the character of a small town. There are plenty of parks and other leisure time facilities such as the Donauinsel, a major resort on the banks of the Danube river. But of course Vienna also stands for culture: the Viennese music and the theatres on its own are worth a trip to Vienna which is reached via train, car or airplane. You will enjoy good wine and beer, excellent restaurants and numerous pubs and bars. The countless cafés are oases of the typical Viennese “Gemütlichkeit”.
The conference venue can easily be reached by public transportation. The nearest station is "Schottentor - Universität", where subway U2 (violet line) stops, as well as tramway lines 1, 37, 38, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44 and D.
